The countdown has begun! In just four weeks the time has come: The MAXXIS BIKE Transalp 2021 will enter its 23rd round. After the Covid-related pause last year, everyone involved is looking forward more than ever to the imminent starting signal for the legendary stage race through the Alps. Up to 1000 mountain bikers will make the long and hard way from Nauders to Riva del Garda on 04 July 2021. Registrations for this challenge are still possible.
In order to offer all participants and visitors as well as exhibitors, sponsors and helpers with a safe and exciting event in July 2021 the organizers have developed a comprehensive hygiene concept. “Together with the stage locations and all the supporters, we are delighted to finally host of this great event again,” says project manager Jan Leschinski.
The maiden voyage of the BIKE Transalp in 1998 was like a journey into the unknown. The participants of the MAXXIS BIKE Transalp 2021 may also experience this original character again. “The 2021 route is one of the wildest and most original in BIKE Transalp history,” promises race director Marc Schneider. Yet it is the contrasts that make the new route so special. In addition to the mightiness of the Alps with still unknown and tiny trails the participants will also experience the diversity of the trails specially designed for bikers.
So the riders can let off steam on the finest bike trails in Nauders and Livigno, before the route crawls into the wild country south of the Ortler, where riding skills demanded by the narrow, undeveloped paths. Among glaciated giants of mountain, the 2021 route eventually winds its way over remote and scenic passes, such as the Passo di Verwa at 2,314 or the Forcella di Montozzo at 2,613 metres.
Between Bormio and Aprica the route then continues in wild terrain along steep, sometimes unfixed descents. Here, at the latest, the original Transalp flair will emerge. Even after that it remains rustic. Approaching the Mountainbike-Mecca on Lake Garda, the route on the following stages via Pellizzano, Molveno and Valle del Chiese continues along remote trails and spectacular scenery – the maximum adrenaline remains until the end.
