The 23rd edition of Europe’s most spectacular mountain bike stage race for everyone cannot take place as planned from 5 to 11 July 2020 due to the Corona pandemic. The MAXXIS BIKE Transalp, which this year was to be running exclusively through Austria and Italy, is cancelled for 2020. A new date for next year has already been fixed: The next BIKE Transalp will lead from 4 to 10 July 2021 in seven stages from Nauders to Riva del Garda through the Alps – the route and so the stage locations will remain as planned
Seven stages, around 500 kilometres and 18,000 metres of climbing: For more than two decades, the BIKE Transalp has represented adventure, personal challenges, team spirit and breath taking landscapes. The fact that the MAXXIS BIKE Transalp – for the first time since its inception – has to be cancelled is bitter news for all mountain bike fans and the initiators. “Together with our partners, we hoped until the very last, to still realize the BIKE Transalp event in 2020. But unfortunately the current situation, also with regard to worldwide travel restrictions and the restrictions by the Austrian and Italian authorities, makes it impossible to hold such a big and international event. That’s why we have to cancel the BIKE Transalp this year and will concentrate all our efforts on the 2021er edition”, says Monika Weber, event manager of the organising publisher Delius Klasing.
There is already a new date for one of Europe’s most spectacular mtb stage races for everybody. The next MAXXIS BIKE Transalp will take place from 4 to 10 July 2021. The organisers already look forward to experience a great event with many mountain bikers from all over the world in the next year.
