Škoda 24 Hours
Loyals to the Sarthoise cyclosportive or begginers searching new adventures, cyclists will be there for this 13th edition of the ŠKODA 24 Hours cycling. In January, the maximum of 580 teams allowed at the start has been reached in just one hour. Suffice to say that many of them tick the box of one year to the next to not miss the famous clock tower on the Le Mans’s circuit.
2673 riders from 14 nationalities will rush forward the Bugatti circuit on Saturday 27th August at 3pm. 80 riders will face up to the «the Dunlop uphill» solo, but the majority will be divided into groups of 2 to 8 riders. From the experienced cyclist to the Sunday sportsman, everyone will come to live at his own pace his “24 Hours of Le Mans… by bike” in joy and good mood.
Professional rider from 1978 to 1988 and current manager of the Total Direct Energie team, the start will be given by Jean-René Bernaudeau. During his career, he competed in ten Tour de France, one Tour d’Espagne and four Tour d’Italie. In the 1979 Tour de France, he finished 5th and took the white jersey of the best young rider.
For the overall victory, eyes will naturally be turned towards the Dutch Scorpions Racing Team (ex-Sarto Endurance Team), winner in 2021, 3rd in 2019 and 5th in 2018. Regulars in the top 5, Distinxion, Socopa and Roadborn might be serious outsiders.
After 2 years of absences due to the pandemic, the 2022 vintage will mark the return of the family morning event: “La Matinale Le Maine Libre – La Sarthe“, on Saturday 27th August from 10:30am to 11:30am. Young or old, more than a thousand cyclists are expected to share this friendly moment by bike, on the mythical Bugatti race track. This gathering is open to all types of bikes and all ages. To register, the meeting point is in the Village at the Welcome – Shop of the 24 Hours Cycling! Access is free for children under 10 accompanied.
Spectators will have free access to the venue and to animations offered in the Village: bike testing and new modes of eco-responsible travel thanks to the Macif, artist walks, animations for children, etc.
