The story of the Velobin began in 2005, after retired engineer Sam Lowings returned from an epic ride from Exeter to Vladivostock, accompanied by his wet luggage. Sam invented a practical pannier which then sold across Europe and North America, under the brand “Bikebin”
Upon his retirement, the business was taken over by current CEO Michael Bryant, who re-started production under the new brand “Velobin”

What makes the Velobin so fantastic?
While fabric panniers are and will always be a helpful and efficient product there is never a guarantee that they will be 100% waterproof, especially once they begin to age. One feature of the Velobin is that it is completely waterproof and as it is a hard and solid carrier, it will remain waterproof for as long as you need it.
The benefit of the harder material also ensures that your luggage will be protected from any damage, making it perfect for commuters who seek to carry their laptops to and from the office. Although a reasonably large-sized item, the Velobin is surprisingly lightweight, with an overall weight of only 1.1kg, perhaps even more surprisingly, each Velobin can hold up to 10kg (22 pounds) worth of cargo.
The Velobin is made to fit virtually all rear cycle racks and even some front racks too, and the hook at the base completely prevents pannier swing. The base clip is fully adjustable and ensures that the Velobin is rigidly attached once it has been clipped in with no sway. Fitting two onto a rear rack will give a large flat top area and with multiple bungee points on the casing, it allows for even more luggage to be securely strapped on top.
The Velobin is available in a lockable version with an integrated cam lock or is easily lockable with any padlock. While it is not designed to be high security, it is enough to prevent casual onlookers from peering inside.
A highlight in the manufacturing of the Velobin is that it is made from 100% recycled plastic (black parts) and therefore should it ever come to the end of its life, is fully recyclable. It is fitted with industry-standard KlickFix fittings and is sold exclusively by Velobin to ensure each product is perfectly made.
With a sleek and stylish design, the tough exterior of the Velobin allows riders to customise with however many stickers or additions they see fit. They are, however, appealing enough to look out without any changes. The main body of each one is made with a smooth black finish and is available with either a red, blue, or black lid.
Off the bike, the Velobin stands on its own with no risk of falling over and is conveniently fitted with a handle making it easy to transport should you have to remove it often.
