Apple Maps Expands Cycling Directions Across the UK and Ireland in 2025

News

Apple Maps has now broadened its coverage for cycling directions across the United Kingdom and Ireland. The expansion, first noticed by a UK user, means cyclists can now plan a journey on the app from, say, Land’s End to John o’ Groats—if they’re so inclined.

Cycling directions have been available in the UK and Ireland for a few years, but until now, coverage didn’t extend across the entire region. Apple Maps’ cycling directions offer tailored navigation for cyclists, incorporating dedicated bike lanes, cycle paths, and bike-friendly routes while also highlighting steep inclines, stairs, and other potential obstacles.

Cycling directions were first introduced to Apple Maps with iOS 14 and are currently available in countries such as the United States, Australia, China, France, Germany, and Japan. They also feature in select major cities worldwide, including London, Barcelona, and Toronto. Apple provides a full list of supported areas on its website.
