Lombardy Gran Trail 2026: Italy’s New Bikepacking Adventure Debuts This Easter

News

BERGAMO, ITALY,   A thrilling new chapter in European cycling begins this Easter with the launch of the Lombardy Gran Trail 2026, a multi-day bikepacking event that promises to immerse riders in the rich landscapes, history, and culture of northern Italy. Organised by epicdays.cc, the event will run from 3 to 6 April 2026, offering two non-competitive randonnée-style routes that start and finish in the picturesque city of Bergamo.

Unlike traditional races, the Lombardy Gran Trail (LGT) is designed as a bikepacking experience, inviting cyclists to explore the diverse terrain of Lombardy at their own pace. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a newcomer to long-distance cycling, the LGT offers a unique opportunity to discover the region’s hidden gems, from alpine lakes and historic cities to scenic riverbanks and rolling vineyards.

Two Routes, One Epic Journey

Participants can choose between two carefully curated routes:

  • LGT Long One: Spanning 550 km with 3,500 metres of elevation gain, this route is a deep dive into Lombardy’s eastern and southern landscapes. Starting at Santini Cycling’s headquarters in Bergamo, riders will traverse through Lake Iseo, the wine-rich hills of Franciacorta, the shores of Lake Garda, and the cultural hubs of Mantua, Cremona, and Pavia. A brief detour into Piacenza adds a touch of Emilia-Romagna’s cycling heritage before the trail loops back through Milan, blending modernity with tradition.
  • LGT Short River: Ideal for those new to bikepacking, this 250 km route with 1,500 metres of elevation gain offers a more accessible yet equally scenic experience. Cyclists will journey through Bergamo, Crema, and Cremona, following the tranquil path carved by the Serio River.

Both routes are non-technical, making them suitable for road bikes, gravel bikes, or mountain bikes. Riders can select their preferred terrain, road, gravel, or MTB, when registering, and will receive tailored GPS tracks a few days before the event.

More Than a Ride: A Celebration of Cycling Culture

The Lombardy Gran Trail is not just about distance; it’s about adventure, discovery, and community. Whether riding solo or with friends, participants will share unforgettable moments, forge new connections, and experience the soul of Lombardy through every pedal stroke.

The event is the brainchild of Andy Serighelli, a Milan-based music producer turned cycling enthusiast. After over 15 years in the international music scene, Serighelli founded epicdays.cc in 2024 to channel his passion for cycling into creating transformative experiences. His vision? To move people, not just through music, but through the rhythm of the road.
