The UK’s most spectacular closed-road cycling event is back as Etape Loch Ness gears up for its 12th edition. Taking place on Sunday, 26 April 2026, this iconic sportive promises riders an unforgettable journey through the breathtaking Scottish Highlands.
What Makes Etape Loch Ness Special?
Cyclists will tackle a 66-mile (106 km) loop around Loch Ness, enjoying panoramic views and a total ascent of 900 metres. The highlight? The legendary King and Queen of the Mountain climb – a gruelling 4.8-mile section rising 380 metres, with gradients hitting 12%.
This non-competitive event attracts riders from across the globe. In 2025, participants came from over 20 countries, with a third travelling from outside Scotland. The combination of closed roads, stunning scenery, and Highland hospitality makes Etape Loch Ness a bucket-list challenge for cyclists of all abilities.

Ride for a Cause

Riders can sign up for charity places with a minimum fundraising pledge of £150, helping Macmillan support the 3.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. Since 2014, the event has raised an incredible £2.3 million for the charity.
Organisers Promise ‘GreatNess’
Malcolm Sutherland, CEO of Caledonian Concepts, said:
“Each year, the Etape Loch Ness grows in scale and spirit, and 2026 is set to be our greatest event yet.
