MAXXIS BIKE Transalp Seven days – seven challenges

The MAXXIS BIKE Transalp 2020 was supposed to be wilder and more adventurous, with up to 1000 mountain bikers heading for it these days. But due to the Corona pandemic, the stage race is cancelled. Nevertheless, an action-packed week on the bike should not be missing: From 5 to 11 July, the “Local Trails Edition” starts with daily challenges for the local trails and many attractive prizes. At the same time the registration for the alpine classic in 2021 is starting

About 580 kilometres and 19,000 metres of climbing were on the schedule of the BIKE Transalp 2020, that was supposed to run in seven stages from Nauders to Riva del Garda. And although most participants of the “Local Trails Edition” have to do without the alpine panorama, dolce vita and Lake Garda, they do not have to miss out on a sporty week with the cycling community and daily great prizes.

Who can participate? Not only those who have already registered for the BIKE Transalp 2020, but everyone who is up for seven days of trails, sweating and fun. All information on the free “Local Trails Edition”, the challenges, the prizes and the registration can be found here: www.bike-transalp.de/local-trails-edition/en.

How does it work? For each day, the Transalp team publishes a challenge online, which the participants can ride on the trails and paths in their local biking area. Afterwards, the ride has to be uploaded on Strava and sent to the Transalp team. Some of the daily tasks are short and crisp, others demand endurance and sometimes it goes high up – such as the 600 metres of altitude in one piece, in imitation of the planned 6th stage from Molveno to Valle del Chiese.

Since not everyone has the big mountains right on the doorstep, some challenges require not only strong legs but also creativity in terms of route planning. In the end, it’s not a matter of being the fastest, the focus is rather on the fun and the community spirit. Therefore the prizes of the Transalp partners and sponsors will be raffled off at the end of each challenge among all participants. Also, whoever takes part in at least five challenges will get the chance to win a team start for the BIKE Transalp 2021.

The kick-off of the “Local Trails Edition” is also the registration start for the MAXXIS BIKE Transalp 2021 from 4 to 11 July 2021. “I was really looking forward to the Transalp, but unfortunately I have to wait another year”, says race director Marc Schneider. “Now the pictures of my track research are running through my head. And there is still the wow-effect when I think of certain passes and panoramas. The mountains are stronger than Corona!”

And those will have to be conquered again in 2021 with hundreds of mountain bikers from all over the world. Those who register for the MAXXIS BIKE Transalp 2021 by 30 September 2020 will save 50 euros with the Early Bird Special. Instead of 899 Euro, only 849 Euro will be due. Young mountain bikers can save: The U23 starting fee is only 699 euros and 649 euros within the Early Bird period. On top of that U23 riders get free overnight stay in the Transalp-Camp.
