Carradice launches Bagman Utility Rack range for gravel, commuting and touring

British luggage specialist Carradice has unveiled its new Bagman Utility Rack range, a lightweight and adaptable carrying system aimed at riders who want extra cargo capacity without the need for traditional rack mounts.

The new range is designed to cover a broad spread of riding styles, from bikepacking and gravel adventures to everyday commuting and touring. Carradice says the key idea behind the system is simple: create a practical luggage solution that works on almost any bike, including those without rack eyelets. That makes the Bagman Utility Rack particularly relevant for gravel bikes, folding bikes, lightweight touring builds and urban commuters who need flexibility without committing to a permanent, frame-mounted setup.

At a time when more riders are looking for versatile kit that can move between bikes and riding disciplines, the Bagman Utility Rack looks like a smart addition to the market. Rather than following the usual formula of a fixed touring rack, Carradice has gone down the route of a universal cargo platform built around compatibility and ease of use. For riders who have struggled to fit luggage to bikes with minimal mounting points, that could be the biggest selling point.

Carradice has built the new racks from welded stainless steel, with reinforced stainless steel lugs, in a bid to balance durability with low weight. Each rack is rated to carry up to 6kg, which should be enough for a good range of riding essentials, whether that is a saddlebag for day rides, a dry bag for an overnighter or additional luggage for commuting. The racks also feature integrated welded strap loops to help keep loads secure over rough ground and mixed terrain.

That emphasis on real-world practicality feels consistent with Carradice’s long-standing reputation in cycling luggage. The company describes the Bagman Utility Rack as part of a broader modular system, rather than a standalone product, with compatibility across existing Carradice luggage and other strap-mounted bags. In practice, that means riders are not locked into one very specific setup, and can adapt the rack to different uses depending on the ride.

For bikepackers and gravel riders, the appeal is obvious. A compact rack with strap loops can offer a more stable platform than some direct-to-bar or direct-to-seatpost luggage options, particularly when the weather turns or the surface gets rough. For commuters, meanwhile, the promise is a lighter and less complicated alternative to a full traditional rack, especially on bikes that were never designed with utility in mind. Touring riders may also appreciate the option of a simple carrying system for lighter loads.

The launch line-up includes three models. The Bagman Utility Front Rack comes in at £79.95. At the rear, riders can choose the Bagman Utility Rear Rack Standard for £74.95, or the Bagman Utility Rear Rack Quick Release for £89.95. European pricing is listed at €103.95, €97.95 and €115.95 respectively.

Carradice says the Bagman Utility Rack range is available now through its retailers and distributors. The company also says a complementary product range designed to work alongside the system is planned for Q3 2026, suggesting this launch may be the start of a broader push into modular carrying solutions for modern riding.

Founded in the UK, Carradice has been making cycling luggage for more than 90 years. While the brand has deep roots in traditional cycle touring, it positions itself today within the modern bikepacking and adventure space, focusing on durable, repairable luggage systems for gravel riding, touring and everyday use. That heritage gives the new Bagman Utility Rack range a strong base, especially for riders who value kit that is built to last rather than treated as disposable.

On paper, the Bagman Utility Rack range looks like a sensible answer to a familiar problem. Plenty of modern bikes are fast, capable and versatile, but not especially luggage-friendly. By targeting that gap with a universal rack system, Carradice is aiming squarely at riders who want carrying capacity without the faff of a full rack-and-eyelet setup. If the on-bike stability matches the promise of the design, this could become a useful option for anyone mixing gravel riding, commuting and light touring on the same bike.
