DECATHLON LAUNCH BIKE INSURANCE OFFERING

  • Thanks to partnership with Quotezone, consumers are now able to compare multiple insurance policies through Decathlon
  • Consumers can insure their bikes regardless of where they bought it from

Decathlon UK are pleased to announce that consumers can now buy insurance for their bikes (and accessories) directly via the decathlon.co.uk website, regardless of whether you are insuring a Decathlon bike or not.

Decathlon partnered with Quotezone.co.uk who provide a comparison tool, allowing consumers to find the best deal to suit their needs. The policies will be available to anyone, anytime – not just at the point of purchase. This means that all bikes, new or old, can be insured via the Decathlon.co.uk website.

By introducing an insurance solution, Decathlon are hoping to help reduce the chronic lack of insurance that currently exists in the UK. Latest figures reveal that just 18% of UK cyclists are insured, despite 28 million people owning a bike.

Policies will provide cover for theft, accidental or malicious damage, personal accident and third-party liability.

Ashley Milns, Decathlon’s Partnerships Lead, comments: “As one of the UK’s leading bike retailers, we felt it was our responsibility to ensure that our customers, and owners of bikes more generally, had good access to the right levels of protection against the unexpected. Our partnership with Quotezone will enable customers to quickly and easily compare policies based on their needs, so that they can put their minds’ at ease whilst enjoying the many benefits of cycling.

Greg Wilson, Founder of Quotezone.co.uk, added: “We’re excited to team up with Decathlon and give their customers access to the latest comparison technology for bicycle insurance – helping cyclists across the UK compare policies and find competitive prices.  We’d expect the recent changes to the Highway Code in favour of cyclist safety and our first summer in almost three years free from covid restrictions, to encourage a flurry of cycling activity.

“Bicycle insurance isn’t a legal requirement at present like car insurance, but it should be something every cyclist has, and it doesn’t have to be expensive.  Here at Quotezone.co.uk, we were the first comparison site in the UK to launch bicycle insurance comparison.

“Cyclist and bicycle insurance can help protect the bike riders and other road users by safeguarding their finances from claims, covering medical expenses, personal liability, theft and damage to property – bicycles, especially electric models, can retail for thousands of pounds.”

Decathlon has over 45 stores in the UK and sells a variety of sports equipment, clothing and accessories perfect for those who want to get active, try out new sports or forms of exercise or simply lead a healthy lifestyle.
