15,000km Charity Cycle in Memory of Colleagues Lost to Cancer

Industry leaders rally round to support Air Partner Group, a Wheels Up company, with its commitment to cycle a collective 15,000km for cancer charities in memory of three colleagues lost to the disease.

Employees at the global aviation services group, Air Partner, will embark on a new charity event on 8th June 2023, cycling a collective 15,000km from Gatwick to Paris in honour of three colleagues lost to cancer. The initiative, backed by industry leaders including Emirates SkyCargo, National Airlines, STA Jets and Qatar Executive, aims to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Worldwide Cancer Research, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The latest sponsors mark the halfway milestone in Air Partner’s fundraising journey as it continues to encourage other leaders in the industry to show their support.

With one in six people worldwide losing their lives to cancer, the event will help fund critical care, support and research in the fight against the disease. 60 members across the Air Partner Group will join forces to cycle over 300km each across three days from Gatwick to Paris, making their way through the scenic countryside of Sussex, the Normandy countryside, and along the banks of the River Seine before reaching the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

In addition to Emirates SkyCargo, National Airlines, STAjets and Qatar Executive, generous sponsors include GGT Worldwise, Worldwide Jet, Challenge Group, and Teesside International Airport.

Andy Jurd, Partner Relations Manager for Private Jets at Air Partner said: “This bike ride is incredibly personal to me and I’m delighted to be taking part in a challenge with real purpose to the cause. Not only is it a chance to expand my comfort zone, but it is also a way to honour the memory of great colleagues and friends. I’m very grateful for all the people who have contributed towards and supported the amazing cancer charities we are working with.”

Air Partner has been working tirelessly to prepare for the event, with employees participating in regular training sessions and fundraising activities. The company has set up an online donation page for contributions: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/air-partner-gatwick-to-paris . The final amount raised for the charities will be announced following the event.
